Strategic Partners

Through our strategic partnerships, we have developed innovative and exciting services by adapting our intelligent vehicle technology for a range of customer groups and needs.

Below is a summary of our current strategic partners and our work with them:

  • Ryder Inc

In 2006, Teletrac agreed its largest US contract to date with Ryder Inc, for fleet management services.   Ryder is a Fortune 500 provider of leading-edge transportation, logistics and supply chain management solutions worldwide.

Ryder was seeking an onboard wireless technology system to improve its internal ROI on over 117,000 vehicles, by helping improve core processes.

Ryder’s automation requirements included odometer readings, fuel tax trip reading, ECM fault code reading, vehicle position tracking and vehicle operating data capture including speeds and braking actions, all of which is delivered via Teletrac's intelligent vehicle system.

  • Citroen UK

Citroen vans are already renowned for their value for money.  For its all-new Relay light commercial vehicle, Citroen created a significant first in the UK van market, through a strategic partnership with Trafficmaster.

All Relay - and later, new Dispatch - vans are offered with Smartnav intelligent navigation, live traffic information and Trackstar stolen vehicle tracking as standard, the only such offering on any UK commercial vehicle brand.

Citroen and Trafficmaster's partnership has deepened with the addition of optional Fleet Director fleet management, a unique offering for fleet van customers, available via the same Trafficmaster intelligent vehicle system already fitted to Citroen vans.

  • Department for Transport

Every year, the Department for Transport publishes its Transport Statistics and constantly studies traffic patterns and congestion, setting specific targets in these areas.

In a three year contract from July 2007, Trafficmaster will supply a combination of real road speed data, collected from its 50,000 intelligent vehicle probes and journey time and traffic flow data collected through its fixed sensor network, positioned across major roads in the UK.

The data will assist the Department and other agencies in monitoring and reporting performance against their Public Service Agreement targets, in identifying congestion hotspots and in measuring the impact of schemes to improve traffic flow on the strategic road network.

  •  O2
Our key technology partner is O2, which provides mobile phone connectivity for all our services in the UK.   Trafficmaster's telematics services, including Smartnav and Fleet Director, use the O2 network to transmit data securely and reliably via GPRS.  With UK network population coverage of 99 per cent and a global footprint of over 400 networks in 180 countries, O2 offers excellent support for our range of services. Trafficmaster also provides traffic news to O2’s 1200 Traffic Line, to give up to the minute traffic information for roads you are on or nearby.

  • Navteq
Our partnership with Navteq allows us to supply live floating vehicle data from our 65,000 US customer vehicles, to generate live US traffic information, while simultaneously offering Dynamic Route guidance around traffic problems in our US Turn-by-Turn in-vehicle GPS navigation service.

In the UK, we are working together on a traffic patterns product for the UK, based on our extensive database of measured real road speeds. This will allow navigation system manufacturers using Navteq maps to offer better routes and more accurate journey time calculations.  Read more about Navteq

  • Mitsubishi
Our Smartnav intelligent navigation is fitted as standard to the Mitsubishi L200 pick up range, one of the UK's best selling commercial vehicles.  Read more about Mitsubishi L200

  • Hyundai
Every Hyundai Santa Fe and Sonata in the UK comes with Smartnav as standard.  Read more about Hyundai vehicles.

  • Norwich Union

Norwich Union is Britain’s biggest insurer, covering one in every seven vehicles on the road.  In October 2006, the company launched the first ever Pay As You Drive motor insurance scheme.

To make this possible, Norwich Union needed an in-vehicle system that could accurately monitor vehicle usage for road type and time of day, supported by a robust process for secure transmission and retention of this data.

Norwich Union works with Trafficmaster to fit intelligent vehicle technology to pinpoint customers' vehicle and provide indivdual, tailored customer bills and money saving premiums.
