Directors' Profiles

Colin Walsh - Non-Executive Chairman, Trafficmaster Plc

Colin Walsh, Chairman
Colin was appointed as Trafficmaster Plc’s Chairman in June 2004. He previously served as a Non-Executive Director with the company and had a particular involvement in the company’s strategic management, helping to secure funding for the company prior to its flotation in 1994.

Colin has worked in the venture capital industry since 1989, securing funds for early stage and growth companies. He also serves on the boards of a number of other public and private companies. With an MBA in International Business and Industrial Development from the University of Ulster, Colin currently manages a venture capital fund investing in growth companies in Northern Ireland.
 

Tony Eales - Chief Executive, Trafficmaster Plc and Chief Executive Officer, Teletrac Inc

Tony Eales, Chief Executive

Tony is Chief Executive of both Trafficmaster and Teletrac.  He was appointed to the Trafficmaster board in January 1999 and was responsible for strategic relationships, business and product development. In August 2001, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Teletrac, becoming Chief Executive of Trafficmaster in July 2005.

Tony was central to Teletrac’s turnaround and expansion, making it a key revenue and profit generator for the Trafficmaster group. Under his management, UK operations have seen growth through three distinct business divisions: Trafficmaster Technologies, Trafficmaster Services and Trafficmaster In-Vehicle Products.

Prior to joining Trafficmaster in 1998, Tony held senior management positions in Finance, Marketing and Strategic Planning during his 15 years in the mobile telecoms industry. 

 

Tim Coleman - Group Finance Director, Trafficmaster Plc.

Tim joined Trafficmaster in September 2008. Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse in 1990, Tim has held a number of senior financial roles with telecoms and software companies, including BT, MFS Communications and PacketVideo. Since 2003 he was at Northgate Information Solutions plc, the international software, outsourcing and information technology services company which was taken private by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts in March this year. Tim held several roles within Northgate through a period of unprecedented growth, and was most recently UK Finance Director. While at Northgate Tim gained significant M&A experience and was closely involved with financing, acquiring and integrating numerous acquisitions.

Tim Van Cleve - Chief Operating Officer, Teletrac Inc

Tim Van Cleve, COO, Teletrac

Tim joined the Trafficmaster board in May 2006 and is responsible for the operational performance of Teletrac, which accounts for over 40% of Trafficmaster Group revenue.

Tim joined Teletrac in 1996 and in 2002 he was named Chief Operating Officer. He oversees day-to-day operations, including sales, marketing and national operations and is able to transfer skills and experience between the USA and UK operations.

Tim offers a wealth of expertise and business acumen, having previously held sales positions at Teletrac, including Vice President of Sales and Customer Service.

 

Stuart Berman - Executive Director, Trafficmaster Technologies

Stuart Berman, Executive Director

Stuart joined Trafficmaster in September 2001. He has held a number of senior executive positions, including Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer. In his current role, Stuart is responsible for bringing to market new products and technologies for the benefit of the driver and vehicle operator.

Stuart has an engineering background and an MBA, working in various pioneering technology companies and holding senior director positions in a number of high growth technology companies.

Prior to joining Trafficmaster, Stuart was Managing Director of Films2 Limited, a broadband video-on-demand venture that he developed from start-up. He also held the role of Commercial Director at Demon Internet Ltd, where he was responsible for all revenue generating activities in both the UK and Europe.

 

Alan McWalter - Non-Executive Director, Trafficmaster Plc

Alan McWalter, Non Executive Director

In addition to his Trafficmaster role, Alan is a non-executive director of Cattles plc, Domestic & General plc and Alphameric plc. He is also Chairman of Constantine Holdings and a non-executive director of the Haygarth Group.

Alan was Chairman of Nationwide Autocentres Limited, a non-executive director of the Big Food Group plc and Easycar Limited. He was previously group marketing director at Marks & Spencer plc and with the Kingfisher Group as marketing director of Woolworths and marketing and business development director of Comet.

Alan is an ex-chairman of the Marketing Society and a Freeman of the City of London.

 

Geoffrey Bicknell - Non-Executive Director, Trafficmaster Plc

Geoffrey Bicknell, Non Executive Director

Alongside his role at Trafficmaster, Geoffrey is a non-executive director of Acta Spa, an AIM-listed company and has held executive directorships in companies including TI Group Plc, Lucas Industries, Maxima Holdings Plc and Northgate Information Solutions Plc.

He combines broad based financial, commercial and operational management expertise with practical corporate finance experience gained in both the UK and in the USA, where he worked for TI Group. He is a chartered accountant in both Canada and the UK.

 

Ian Coomber - Non-Executive Director, Trafficmaster Plc

Ian Coomber, Non Executive Director
Ian Coomber offers Trafficmaster over 35 years experience of the motor industry. Having started as a sponsored degree student in 1963 at Vauxhall Motors Ltd, Ian moved through the ranks to become Executive Director, Sales, Marketing and Customer Care. During his time at Vauxhall, Ian held positions of District Service Manager, Zone Fleet Manager, Fleet Sales Manager and General Sales Manager.

In addition to the Vauxhall board, Ian was Director of GMAC (UK) Ltd, IBC Vehicles and Opel Performance Centre (GmbH). Ian was also Co-Chair of the Retail Forum Ltd and Chairman of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) Car Section Committee.
